Yesterday, with a just a few minutes to spare before midnight (for the Central European region at least) the September update together with a mostly Death High centric sale went online. With Halloween coming up this month and Black Friday being the big KDM-day at the end of November; sandwiched between that heap of madness and the Gencon sale last month, this update/sale was always destined to be on the smaller side of things. And well, that remains true if you are looking only at game content.

As of writing this, most minis are still available, although the “big one” – Death High Princlple White Lion – has already sold out over the last couple of hours. No wonder though.
The most expensive new addition is the Gold Smoke Knight bust for $300. Apparently the second one after the much coveted Butcher Bust of what may well turn into a line of product at some point, depending on how well these busts sell, it is quite the “chonker”. I’m not that interested in busts myself, but I would also be lying if I said there weren’t one or two I would really like to get.
Gameplay-wise we now have all the Gencon stuff available with Thumping Tempani Ledla, from the Indominable range, plus we got a new character in the form of Guinevere, who is based off of one of the artworks in the Black Knight rule book.

For me personally, I was mostly interested in the Kickstarter update this time around. And sure enough, Bra Mithra has already put up a video going through the update, you can watch it here.
If you just want the cliff notes for now:

  • Pariah is going into (mass) production soon-ish
  • all 4 Wanderers are done with tooling
  • False Messengers are in production
  • Screaming Armor sets are going into tooling and have more weapon options
  • the Parasite Queen got sized up to a 4×4 base and is quite “lorge” now
  • Red Witches story events are in the final editorial pass

With the Screaming God being my most anticipated piece of upcoming content, any and all news on the topic is great. I have already read/heard some negative opinions on the size increase for our upcoming Queen of Hands, but I do like the move to the bigger model. With any luck this might also alleviate some of the pain of putting her together, because damn, that is going to be the real challenge. Just in general though, I think it suits her and the theme.
The real star of the show was that piece of artwork though. There is a certain soundscape that popped up into my head upon first seeing it, I cannot quite put it into words. Haunting fits it quite well, but that is both a little cliché and not really saying anything. If I find something to liken it to, I will post it.
Linking the design to Junji Ito’s Tomie is also quite fitting and an connection I had not made on my own before.

We also got a hint that each of the 3 Red Witches will have her own Secret Fighting Art for us to discover.

In other news, the Feline Entity almost punched a tiny hole through one of my Founding Stones yesterday during progression for Bogstop.

But that’s all from me on the matter. Another month, another update in the books. If you have been with the game for a long time now and are suffering from update-fatigue every time something gets delayed, try and hang in there. We will get all the stuff eventually and the Black Knight and Frogdog have been good indications of what the game will have in store for us, and so far, I would say, things are looking good.

Thank you for your time and don’t hold hands with a random tree,
Amathul
