It’s the spring update! But who am I kidding, the real thing people wanted was the updated timeline. And we sure did get it. For the most part its probably not what people wanted to hear/read, but overall, with the way KD:M has always been operating, it is about what you, I, any of us could and should have expected.
As for myself, I am a bit bummed out by the fact that the Screaming God expansion has been delayed to a later wave – possibly Remastered Wave 2, or maybe its own in between release – but if the general quality of the game is increased, I will concede that it is generally better to wait a bit longer. What can I say? I just want to get bodied by the hyperspeed lope.
Generally speaking the new timeline reads overly optimistic. And whilst I have said time and time again that I try to see Kickstarter stuff in general, but especially when it comes to Kingdom Death, rather in a positive light opposedto being overly negative. Still, I can’t help but doubt the validity of the new timeline. But, so you can make up your own mind, in short:
Wave 1: July / August 2025
– Pariah
– Red Witches
– False Messengers
– 4 Wanderers (Aeneas, Goth Amy etc.)
– PoD Gatherismn
Wave 2: Q4 2025/Q1 2026
– Campaigns of Death
– Promos of Death
– Honeycomb Weaver
– Titan Bee
– Percival
– PoD Heliocentrism + Starbound
+ possibly Screaming God
Wave 3: Q2 2026
– inverted Mountain Campaign
– Nightmare Ram
– Gryphon
– Oblivion Mosquito
– First Hero
– Terrain Set (BF25)
Wave 4: Q4 2026
– Silver City
– Abyssal Woods
– Pathfinders of Death
Wave 5: Q3 2027
-Ivory Dragon
– Super Survivors Vignette
Anything beyond the 2nd wave feels overly optimistic considering how things have been going thus far. KD:M is surely a difficult game to playtest thoroughly due to its lengthy and expansive nature, so maybe stuff will ramp up all the way to Wave 3 as its a reasonable assumption that a lot of the Inverted Mountain has been developed and tested in tandem. I guess, you could argue that they better be, considering we already know of certain interactions between the different expansions. Pariah and Red Witches story-wise or Red Witches and the Gryphon for the additional resin needed to build the Black Armor.
(I’ll take the chance to quickly mention the Frogdog – a lot of people have been complaining about copper rates and the lack of random terrain – if we are willing to give the benefit of the doubt – there is a decent chance that the Inverted Mountain box will add further ways to gain the metal in a full-on campaign. Events, FA or armor sets. I’d be willing to bet on the fact that we get something that spawns additional terrain.)
I can’t really see Abyssal Woods following up that quickly however.
Either way: it will get here when it gets here.
The update also includes a decent amount of sample images from the Red Witches and the 4 Wanderers in RMW 1, most of which are kept small enough to not be too easily readable. I keep flip-flopping on which Wanderer I’m most interested in. Aeneas is still a strong contender, but recently Candy and Cola have been catching up.
So, and then there is the elephant in the room: the ongoing issue with tariffs as well.
The reality of it is that they will have an effect on the cost of production via the shipping/importing of goods and/or materials, and therefor the products we want to buy – in this case tiny plastic people with large butts and boobs – are going to get more expensive. Of course this is keeping it overly simplified, and should also be viewed under the lense of: Kickstarter is not a store front.
Believe me, I also wish this wasn’t the case, and I’m pretty sure Adam is in the same boat as well, but sadly that is not how this is going to work. Especially if the US government is aiming to further increase their tariffs towards China.
But I’ll leave it at that for now.
April 1st also marks the deadline for the Expansions of Death 1 painting contest – hope all of you got around to finishing your projects on time and sending them in on time! I did enter and now there is nothing left to do but wait and see how long it takes for us to get any results – I’d expect them between GenCon and Black Friday.
I’m sure my entry is wholly inadequate for the quality that is going to be on display.
For this month’s sale we got a new Indomitable Survivor – Rubi (for the Phoenix), a bust of Hollow, overgrown and weathered (including a Cancer Pidgeon), a male fighter variant, the Court Barrister and 2 new larger models. The White Speaker Bloodmage and the Rain Stalker.
The latter of the two seems especially intriguing as she sounds like either a very far-off glance at what could be a special survivor class for the Ringtail Swamp, or even nemesis.
Naturally most of the resin releases are already sold out.
This is also the season to get your hands on the spring dice. (I sure hope we are going to get a Red Witches dice set upon their release – red and white would look fabulous I think.)
And finally, we also got a bunch of new resource pages. Whilst I’m not entirely sure how you are supposed to navigate to them without a direct link, but having additional resources is never bad. Also.., my qualms with Slenderman seem to be correct – the Lantern Year 19 encounter is still Level 2 according to the new page for the Monster Nodes.
With the current month covered, my orders from last month have finally managed to arrive last week, and whilst I can’t seem to find the pictures I took of Kale, I have a few of the Feline Entity helping out, examining the black stuffing paper.

Last time I got, the beautiful Golden Bat dice, an additional set of rawhide armor sprues, Longclaw Lenore and the elusive Ringtail Vixen.

As none of the the things were especially new – the big thing to talk about is of course the Ringtail Vixen. Besides being a tie-in towards the Ringtail Swamp far far .. far into the future, its the bookmark people are crazy about.

Placed on the relevant intimacy page of your campaign, the first time you roll a 1, instead of losing 2 survivors you gain a special survivor with the Monster Claw Style (FA) instead. The bookmark is then removed for the rest of the campaign and at the start of any following campaign you roll a dice, on a 6+ the bookmark is added to the rulebook, ready to save your ass again.
Its an all around solid white box with great game content that has remained unique in what it does all thebway up until this point in time.
And that about does it for this month’s update. Having renewed clarity about the shipping waves is great, although I can’t overstate how much I am waiting on the Screaming God at this point. But there is nothing to be done but tide myself over with White Speaker content, I guess.
Whilst writing all this, I ordered Rubi. Now if only Xell were available from the EU warehouse…
I’ll be back in a couple of days with Bogstop and Lantern Year 27, but until then, as always, thank you for your time, go hunt a Rey Dau or something..,
Amathul
