I told you, sometimes you just need to shout it out into the aether and the universe will make it happen!
Pre-orders for the Witches and Wanderers – which are called Adversaries and Allies on the official site – are live!
Pre-ordering any of these items will be fulfilled via the Dark Treasury and should be ready to ship to you in September according to Team Death’s estimations, after the regular backers have been handled.
Go ahead and take some time, have a look at the pretty pictures in the store.
If, like me, you are not a backer, there is a big bundle if you want to get the Revised Wave 1’s gameplay content in one big batch.
Or if you would rather piece-meal pick and choose what you want:
Wanderer Aeneas
Wanderer Candy
Wanderer Death Drifter
Wanderer Goth
Aside from the big stuff we are also getting
Philosophies of Death: Gatherismn
False Messengers (Pillar)
Percival (Pillar)
So all in all we are looking at 2 nemesis expansions – node 1 and 2 respectively, 4 wanderers, a philosophy and 2 pillars.
Of course, to be fair, this isn’t exactly new information, but I might as well recap it in my growing excitement.
Wanderers are survivors – or rather pre-existing characters that you can meet during your campaign of KD:M. As far as I know as a non-GCE-owner, you can have 1 Wanderer per campaign, and the Wanderer themselves will tell you in which Lantern Year you first encounter them.
Luck, featured in the GCE notably comes to the settlement very late (I believe it is around LY22ish), whilst, according the last thing we heard, Candy (&Cola) supposedly join the survivors in a very early Lantern Year, possibly LY3.
To give you a quick idea about each of them:
Aeneas is a hungry girl(?) who will eat anyone and anything, including but not limited to a new batch of Indom Resources for the Core quarries.
The word-less Death Drifter has an ominous and seemingly inscrutable agenda and seems more high-tech than your typical survivor.
Candy is on the run from a blood-sport arena, searching for a better future and has tons of soda-themed gear to spread around a sugar-high.
Goth (Amy) is just here trying to help people before her own time runs out, with new innovations and some good ol’ love and care and .. uh, radiation poisoning?
Both the False Messengers and Percival (a reprint) feature pillar cards and should be fairly light on your campaigns overall.
From what we have seen of pillars so far they represent options to further customize the contents of any one campaign you play by adding events and modifiers to them. So far we know that pillars will have point values assigned to them which will help you make the decision of how many to add at once.
(We also got a few additional tiny scraps of insight into the pillars over on the discord. A member of Team Death – Dark Tastemaker – mentioned that you shouldn’t take more than 10 points worth of pillars and no more than 2 of them should have a 3 point value. The only 3 point pillar we currently know of is Arc Survivors, with the special mention that other 3 pointers are good ways out, and of course at this point in time these rules are not set in stone, its mainly just a recommendation.)
And finally, besides the 2 nemesis expansions – the addition that should have one of the more profound impacts on both your moment to moment and long-term gameplay: Gatherism.
As a new Tier 2 philosophy, it should have a fairly large impact on your arc-survivor campaigns, shaping the way your settlement and survivors evolve on a personal level together with the world around them.
You will be able to make use of all kinds of vegetation with the help of Herb-Gathering-Chan and soon your Giant Stone Face might start sprouting a blood-red beard after you have stumbled upon the Virid Grove. And who knows, maybe we get a glimpse of Absolute in the vines if we are attuned enough.
So, yeah! It is happening! The arrival of the pre-orders should mean we are soon going to see the first few backers receive their new items.
So, if any of you are amongst those lucky few: happy hunting! Don’t let the Pariah mess with you too much! And it will want to mess with you. The inclusion of a gear grid in that box is something VERY curious indeed.
But the Red Witches should already be chasing it down. And I’m sure they will gladly help you take care of that threat. Yep. Definitely.
As always thank you very much for your time, let’s eat a Lion Tongue together and swoon for Seer!
Amathul
