That’s me!
I got into Kingdom Death: Monster only during 2023 after having followed the game for about 9-ish years on and off so I am still a fairly “new” fan. For the longest of times KD:M felt like a unicorn amongst board games to me, something ethereal and/or perhaps unattainable, and you probably can’t imagine how happy I felt when I first unboxed my very own copy of the Core game. Or maybe you can? I really shouldn’t be making such assumptions.
After showing the game to a few of my friends, I thought it would be a neat idea to post pictures of one of my campaigns on Instagram – which was a fun but flawed experience, with picture and text limitations being just too stringent most of the time. So, here I go again, this time with a dedicated site for my antics and hot takes.
I am pretty sure that I over-corrected a bunch after that first attempt on insta, but eventually the solid middle ground will – without a doubt – be found.
On this site you can expect Lantern-Year-by-Lantern-Year campaign play, update and expansion overviews, pictures of my amateurish painting and just about anything KD:M-related I find the time to write about.
Eventually I would like to do something on the game’s lore as well, but that is pretty much the hardest part about the game .. figuring out what is actually going on. Not to mention that condensing any revelations down into coherent write-ups won’t be an easier.
As for any game-play content: settlements will fail, whilst others will prosper. Just don’t expect me to min/max too hard or actually play all that well. For me, the stories the game tells are the most important bit, not which item is the “best” or most cost-effective.
Up until now, just me being a Luck-vampire has carried me through a lot already. That and being both deathly afraid of all higher level monsters as well as generally staying positive.
Ever since I got the game I have been spending a lot of money on plastic (but at least the voices can’t get to me now) and currently I own:
– Core
– Frogdog
– Gorm
– Flower Knight
– Spidicules
– Dragon King
– Sunstalker
– Dung Beetle Knight
– Lion God
– Pariah
– Red Witches
– Slenderman
– The Black Knight
– Killennium Butcher Vignette
– Screaming Nukealope Vignette
and a bunch of White Boxes:
15th Anniversary Survivors, Guinevere, Jackel, Survivors of Death Vol 1 & Vol 2 and Glow being some of the stand-out ones that I have written about before.
I have not baked anything of the game on Kickstarter or Bakerkit, but I have pre-orders set up for the 2026 line-up of releases (Screaming God, Titan Bee, Honeycomb Weaver & Dead Armor).
About me? Uhm, I’m from Germany and I’ve studied Screenplay Writing and I enjoy working creatively. However, most of my recent years were spent recovering from the 3-ish years I had to care for my grandma. Though I am reaching a point were it feels less easily justified to mention this time and time again.
I also enjoy video games – from Elden Ring to Anno 1800, to Hunt Showdown, my tastes are all over the place, and I am partial to Anime. Which shouldn’t be that surprising for somebody playing KD:M.
Video game-wise I am currently enjoying: the new Elden Ring: Nightreign DLC and Anno 117.
Absolum was also a gem of a game, if you enjoy side-scroller beat-em up’s.

The Feline Entity

Notice how she is sitting on the spot for Owen’s gear grid.
She is the true ‘Star’ of the show. She enjoys being pet, play-fighting (more or less seriously), walking across the game board, sitting on gear grids, shoving monsters around and trying to bite into survivors and their weapons.
An ever-present menace living in the shadows, when I set up the game, she usually comes to check on me and my survivors about once per lantern year.
She has also been pretty good at buffing monsters recently, and she refused to tell me how she does that!
It’s not all KD:M for her though, she also likes messing with my Call of Cthulhu preparations, long naps and snacking on treats.
